Meet Josh Gibbs, one of our in-house architectural designers. Josh’s interest in architecture began in his childhood, growing up in sunny San Diego County. Inspired by his father, a skilled carpenter, Josh gained hands-on experience framing homes, which sparked a lifelong passion for design and drafting.
He earned his B.S. in Architecture and Graphic Design in Abilene, Texas, in 2004 and has worked in the architectural field ever since. His early career centered on custom homes throughout San Diego County, from fire-rebuilds to luxurious coastal residences. After the 2008 recession, Josh transitioned into commercial architecture, focusing on tenant improvement projects. For 14 years, he worked with a commercial contractor in Escondido, CA, developing plans and securing permits for a wide variety of clients.
Josh joined Core Building Company after coming across an online job posting, which led him to relocate his family to Idaho in search of new challenges and a better quality of life. At Core, he combines his extensive background in both residential and commercial architecture to bring thoughtful, detail-oriented drafting to every project.
Outside of work, Josh is a devoted husband of 20 years and a proud father of four. He enjoys playing drums and bass guitar at church and with friends, exploring his lifelong interest in herpetology, and taking full advantage of Idaho’s outdoors through fishing, hiking, and camping adventures.
