Utilizing an HSA is one of the smartest financial decisions you can make long-term.
Those who are eligible for an HSA and make it a priority to contribute to it, will find themselves in a phenomenal situation when it comes time to retire.
The contribution limits change every year, so it’s important that you check the limits for which year you’re contributing for. A quick Google search will get you the right data.
A lot of people use HSA‘s like an additional IRA. Once you turn 65 if the money is spent on medical expenses, you won’t pay any tax on money. But you are eligible to use the money for whatever you want and just pay the tax on it just some water, traditional IRA.
If you are not in an eligible health plan to qualify to contribute to an HSA, when it comes time to switch insurance plans, you should really look at the math on what an eligible plan would look like for you to see if it would make financial sense.
I always encourage people to work with a broker to help guide them into these decisions.

This upcoming year in the MEDICARE space will likely be one of the most challenging years yet. There will be some significant legislative affects because of the Inflation Reduction Act(IRA) that will take place in 2025 that will leave many people on Medicare in a potentially frustrating situation if they do NOT shop their health plan this year. If you, or anyone you know is on Medicare, I highly advise you take a hard look at your coverage this fall to be sure you aren't stuck on a health plan next year that is not right for you!
Keep in mind, that although this is a HUGE improvement to limit the cost people pay on medications, this is a huge price increase to the insurance companies who have to pay for all of this. As a result, we anticipate that insurance companies will be scaling back some of their benefits, making plans less advantageous than they have been. But, of course, we don't know for sure what things will look like till plans are released for next year, but its important people are aware of what changes are coming.

We had a blast today at the annual NABIP bowling tournament to raise money for COBS. It was great to see over 100 people there to support the cause and rub shoulders with others in our industry.
