Lena’s family immigrated to the U.S. during the Vietnam Secret War where her grandfather was a “guerrilla” soldier. He passed shortly after their arrival to America, leaving her grandmother widowed at the age of 25 with 8 children to provide for. Her grandma provided for them the only way she knew how to: farm.

Growing up in the U.S. they were taught to chase the American Dream and pursue their goals. Both of Lena’s parents went on to get graduate degrees and Lena graduated from Fresno State University.

After her father lost his job, they, unfortunately, lost everything. But, found their way back through farming. Once returning to Merced they began their new journey which led them to be one of the most influential and vibrant flouriest in the Valley.
