Merced County District Attorney

June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month. Elder Abuse comes in many forms—physical, emotional or even financial. Over the past two days, the Merced County District Attorney’s Office proudly joined community partners to help educate our senior community about the latest scam trends targeting older adults.
Together with the State Contractors License Board, the Department of Insurance, Merced School Employees Federal Credit Union, Assemblywoman Soria’s Office, and HSA, we presented a comprehensive Senior Scam Stopper event, providing valuable information and resources to help seniors recognize, avoid, and report scams.
A special thank you to MercedCera and the Los Banos Community Center for providing welcoming locations that helped make these events possible. When we work together to educate our community, we empower individuals to protect themselves and their loved ones.
An educated community is a safer community.

Thank you to the Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) Stimulant & Opioid Summit for the opportunity to present on the dangers of illicit fentanyl. Representing our office was Public Relations Coordinator Moises Onsurez, alongside Lieutenant Ray Framstead of the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.
Through our continued One Pill Will Kill campaign, we remain committed to educating our community, raising awareness, and helping prevent fentanyl-related tragedies. Partnerships like these are critical in this effort.
