* Check for damage to your roof. Typically this can be done from the ground, and binoculars can be helpful. Look for any obvious curling or cracking or missing shingle tabs.
* Have a professional HVAC contractor inspect and service your central air conditioning unit as per recommended by the manufacture.
* Clean your clothes dryer exhaust duct, damper, and the space under the dryer.
Dryer fires from lint buildup are a leading cause of house fires annually. If you are not comfortable doing this, there are professional companies that will provide the service. 
* Do a walk around and check your homes exterior for any damage. (Cracks or holes in siding, missing mortar on brick or stone sided homes, damaged windows and trims and screens, check weatherstripping around doors and windows, peeling paint on any painted surfaces.
* Clean windows and screens. This is also a great time and chance to look for any previously unnoticed damage.
* Clean and examine your gutters, and assure that you didn’t lose any downspouts during the winter, and that downspouts are extended at least 6 feet away from the house.
* Check your exterior grading. The general rules for grading should be a pitch away from the house of 1 inch per foot for the first 6 feet.  This will keep water away from the house and keep basements dry in the foundation walls healthy.  if grading does need improvement, spring is a great time to do it as you’re not fighting against the heat and humidity of summer.
