Loss & Transitions Team

Drs. Bottomley and Smigelsky just recently published an article in Assessment based off of data from The Surviving Traumatic Loss Project. This article introduced a self-report instrument to assess the bereavement-related needs of individuals bereaved due to sudden, violent, or volitional causes of death. The questionnaire can help both researchers and clinicians alike. Dr. Bottomley and other members of the team are excited to use this measure to examine how specific needs, when met (or not), relate to distress, psychiatric symptoms, and adaptation.
HUGE thanks to reviewers, collaborators, and most importantly to our participant survivors for providing us their time and perspective.
Stay tuned for more publications!

This paper was the first to explore symptoms of prolonged grief, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and su***de risk among overdose loss survivors.
Please share these findings and this study. It’s never been more important.
