“Lord, every nation on earth with adore you.” ~Psalm 72:11
“Our world no longer hears God because it is constantly speaking, at a devastating speed and volume, in order to say nothing. Modern civilization does not know how to be quiet. It holds forth an unending monologue.... When that happens, the word of God fades away, inaccessible and inaudible.... This age detests the things that silence brings us to: encounter, wonder, and kneeling before God.... A heart in silence is a melody for the heart of God.” ~Cardinal Sarah, The Power of Silence, 1.74-81 +++ In this last days of Advent, set aside time to adore God in silence. It is easy to let the grace God has given us pass by in vain, as we see in the world today. Kneel, adore, and listen; He will welcome you. +++

Happy Feast of Christ the King! This feast day is the last Sunday of the Church’s liturgical year. Remember to take time in the midst of finals to honor Christ and reflect on His love for you. Does the way you live your life honor the talents, relationships, and responsibilities He has trusted to you? All of us can improve in the service of our King in some way! Do not be intimidated and start small: go back to attending Mass regularly, go to Confession, pray the Rosary frequently, read the Bible for 15 minutes daily, and allow His grace to move through you in helping the poor, the lonely, and the neglected. Take risks to love others, for this is how Christ loves us. Remember that “whatever you do for those in need, you do for Jesus, and whatever you do not do for those in need, you do fail to do for Jesus” (Matthew 25:31-46). Only those who serve Christ will “inherit the Kingdom” prepared for all people by God; those who reject the opportunity to do so will “depart into eternal fire.” Make Christ the King of your life!
All other things, in comparison to Christ, are irrelevant. He will provide everything you need, if you buy trust Him. Face the tasks before you as best as you can, but do not let them worry you: “Seek first the kingdom [of God] and His righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides” (Matthew 6:33). God bless you! +++ St. John Baptiste de La Salle, pray for us! Live, Jesus, in our hearts, forever! +++

Happy Independence Day! On July 4th, 1776, representatives from the 13 Colonies ratified the Declaration of Independence, marking the birth of a new nation founded upon Christian principles and the natural law. Because of these foundations and the values our forefathers instilled into their children, our nation has tirelessly pursued life, liberty, and happiness. Despite the grave moral failures of our society, especially those most recent, this quest is still ours. While no country or age can ever be perfect under the governance of humanity, let this day remind us of Our Lord’s command that we “love one another as I [Jesus] have loved you” (John 15:12). Take time today to pray for our nation and for all nations, that violence, injustice, and hatred may end. Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception is the patron of the United States. May our little mother watch over us and present us all before Christ, our Savior. +++ St. Michael the Archangel, pray for us! +++
