Hatching day here at BYBN! Two mommas sitting on LOTS of eggs with 3 babies so far! 🤞🏼 for more healthy hatches! I’ve never seen hens co-parent so this is extra special!

Hello all who buy eggs! Lately I have been a busy bee - and have not been collecting eggs as often as I should. At the moment I have a SURPLUS of them due to this - but they also have been outside for extra time.

As a result I am selling these at a very discounted price. I do recommend cracking them into a separate bowl instead of just adding them to pans/mixes as usual. None of them are fertilized so there’s no chance of a chick occurring - but sometimes shells are laid thinner and it may result in a bad egg or two.

2$ a dozen until these run out (and they aren’t old - 2 weeks max on every egg). But I understand that them being outside for a few extra days than normal may have them being not quite as quality as always so we are very discounting them if anyone wants them. It hasn’t been super hot which also helps them stay good!

Just wanting to be clear and upfront with customers. Starting Monday I will again have my normal dozens available for 6$ per dozen and promise their integrity for being pulled and brought inside within 24 hours, and no egg in any sold carton being older than 5 days.

Things people have asked me about chickens.

1. Is it financially worth it for the eggs?
- unless you have over 50 production breed chickens, no. But if you have enough - selling some eggs helps offset the cost of chicken feed.
2. Are the eggs actually better?
- yes, both taste wise and nutrition wise there is no comparison.
3. Do you eat your chickens once they stop laying?
- at the moment no, but if times are hard, that’s why we have them. To provide food for us in whatever way we need without needing to rely on any outside source.
4. Aren’t they a lot of work?
- well yes but any living thing is. 10 chickens vs 20 chickens is around the same time wise so get 30.
5. Do they give you salmonella?
- no. You are more likely to get that from unwashed veggies than you are a farm fresh egg.
6. Don’t they die easy?
- yes. That’s a part of livestock ownership you have to be prepared to deal with.
7. Do they require a lot of space?
- yes and no. Keeping a clean area for them is important, and not all chickens need to free range. We just do that because we can and it 100% cuts down on necessary run cleanings.
8. Why would you have them if they aren’t cheaper than buying eggs?
- because they are the best creatures. So much more intelligent than people give them credit for, not to mention the compost availability AND less human food waste because it goes to the chickens. Also - I know where my food is coming from because of what they intake and because of their living conditions. Eggs on a grocery store shelf can be OLD, 60 days + so we choose this as a healthy alternative and a means to self sustainability if it comes down to it.
9. What is chicken math?
- 4 equals 8, and 8 equals 20. That’s all the info on chicken math I have.
10. Why don’t you refrigerate the eggs?
- because nature knows best and the hen lays them with a ‘bloom’ that protects it from outside bacteria. Store bought eggs have had that washed off so store bought eggs actually have a higher chance of bacteria entering the eggshell.

Hello! With hotter weather starting and all the rain we have been getting - production is down at the moment. I did just buy them some nice supplements so hopefully they get back to it soon, and 4 new layers should start laying soon so this is a temporary low stock situation!
