At WYXR, internships aren't about watching from the sidelines. You'll contribute to live broadcasts, produce digital content, support concerts and community events, work alongside Memphis artists, and help bring projects like the DOWD Awards, Pledge Drive, Raised By Sound Fest, and more to life.

Whether you're interested in Production or Public Relations, you'll gain hands-on experience while building relationships across Memphis' music, media, and nonprofit communities.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Clive Davis, one of the most influential record executives in music history.

In the summer of 2023, WYXR had the opportunity to sit down with Davis for a rare and wide-ranging conversation. While his impact can be measured through generations of artists and recordings, he was generous enough to reflect on several figures whose stories intersect with Memphis music history.

Among them were Memphis-born icon Aretha Franklin, Earth, Wind & Fire founder Maurice White, and pioneering Black music executive Logan H. Westbrooks. Their stories served as a reminder of the many ways Davis helped shape not only the sound of popular music but the business of music itself.

At WYXR, we believe preserving and sharing these stories matters. We're grateful to have documented a small piece of that history through a conversation with a man whose influence reached every corner of the music industry.

We are also thankful to friend of the station and former WYXR Board member Isabel González Whitaker, whose connection with Davis and his team helped make this conversation possible.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues, and the countless artists, executives, and music professionals whose lives and careers were touched by his vision.
