Women are often told to function the same way every day, but our bodies don’t always work that way.
Whether you take the moon analogy literally or symbolically, there is truth in the fact that women experience natural rhythms and cycles that can influence energy, mood, recovery, focus, sleep, and even how we move through our physical practice.
When I was young, there wasn’t  any celebration of femininity. As I grew into womanhood, I often felt like my body was something to be judged, criticized, or consumed rather than honored and respected.
That’s one reason I love seeing more conversations about women’s health, hormones, cycles, and feminine energy. Not because women are better than men but recognizing that we are all different! And those differences deserve to be understood and celebrated.
The healthiest thing we can do is start paying attention.
✨ Keep a journal.
✨ Track your sleep, food, movement, stress, and social interactions.
✨ Notice how different activities affect your energy.
✨ If you still menstruate, pay attention to patterns throughout your cycle.
✨ If you no longer have a monthly cycle, pay attention to the rhythms that still exist in your body and life.
Most importantly, learn to listen to your body without becoming a slave to every feeling. Sometimes rest is what you need. Sometimes movement is exactly what will help you feel better.
Awareness comes first.
Start noticing. Start learning. Start honoring your own unique rhythm.
