Year one. First nomination.

When we launched Mr. Fert, the goal was simple: build a premium fertilizer company that delivers results, earns trust, and makes lawns stand out.

Today, we’re honored to announce that Mr. Fert has been nominated for Medina County Best of the Best 2026.

For a company in its very first year, this recognition means the world to us. It’s a reflection of every customer who trusted us, every lawn we treated, and every person who supported this crazy dream from day one.

We may be the new kid on the block, but we’re just getting started.

Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for the support. And thank you for helping make Year One a year we’ll never forget.

From day one to Best of the Best nominee. That’s one hell of a start. 💚🏆

🚨 LAWN INVADER OF THE WEEK: HENBIT / PURPLE DEADNETTLE 🚨

You’re seeing that purple popping up all over your lawn right now?
That’s henbit / purple deadnettle—and it’s one of the first w**ds to wake up in Northeast Ohio.

🌱 What it is:
A cool-season annual that started growing last fall and is now in full bloom.

🔍 How to spot it:
• Square stems
• Small purple/pink flowers at the top
• Grows low but spreads quick
• Usually shows up in thin or weak turf

⚠️ Why it matters:
These w**ds don’t just “look bad”…
They steal nutrients, water, and sunlight from your grass and can take over fast if left alone.

💪 How to control it:
• Best treated NOW while it’s actively growing
• Broadleaf w**d control works great
• Thick, healthy lawns are the best defense long-term

Bottom line:
If your lawn is full of this right now… it’s a sign your turf needs attention.

🌱 Lawn Invader of the Week: NUTSEDGE

Most people think this is just fast-growing grass…

It’s not.

This is NUTSEDGE—and it’s one of the toughest w**ds we deal with here in Northeast Ohio.

Fact:
Nutsedge isn’t even technically a grass… it’s a perennial sedge.
That means it comes back year after year and spreads underground through little nut-like tubers.

👉 And here’s the real problem…

Most store-bought w**d killers DON’T TOUCH IT.

So what happens?
You spray your lawn… everything else dies… and this stuff just keeps growing like nothing happened.

Why it’s a problem:
• Grows faster than your lawn (you’ll see it sticking up above everything)
• Thrives in wet, compacted soil
• Spreads underground = small problem turns BIG fast
• Comes back year after year if not treated properly

Mr. Fert Tip 💼:
You need a specialty herbicide designed specifically for nutsedge.
Not your basic w**d control… not your average spray… something targeted.

And timing matters.
The earlier you hit it, the better chance you have at shutting it down before it spreads.

At the end of the day…
This is one of those w**ds where DIY usually turns into frustration.

📞 If you’re seeing patches popping up, now’s the time to handle it the right way.

Let’s knock it out before it takes over your lawn.

Crabgrass.

This one doesn’t ask for permission… it TAKES OVER.

Fact:
One crabgrass plant can produce up to 150,000 seeds in a single season.

Yeah… let that sink in.

That’s how a small patch turns into a full-blown problem next year.

Why it matters:
Once it shows up, it spreads fast and chokes out your good grass.

Mr. Fert Tip:
Pre-emergent in early spring is EVERYTHING.
Miss that window… and you’re playing defense all summer.
