OHA, in partnership with ODFW, recently constructed a 3,500-foot buck-and-pole fence that will promote aspen regeneration and expansion, while improving habitat for wildlife on the Elkhorn Wildlife Area. OHA’s Mule Deer Fund awarded $10,000 to this project, and ODFW leveraged OHA funds to attain an additional $30,000, which covered the cost of materials for the project.
The Union-Wallowa OHA Chapter provided volunteer labor and recruited help from local trap shooting teams. This project was one of five excellent projects that were selected for OHA Mule Deer Fund funding in 2025.

OHA is working to reduce deer and other wildlife-vehicle collisions along Hwy 82 in NE Oregon. The Wallowa County Wildlife Crossing Project is looking to deploy remote cameras along the OR-82 right-of-way this summer to monitor wildlife passage throughout the fall migration. The Wildlife Crossing Project is seeking input from Wallowa County residents and involvement from local landowners or volunteers open to contributing to the project. According to the official Oregon Secretary of State logs, proponents of IP28 have now met their minimum signature threshold with more than a month to gather more. We cannot—and will not—let them succeed. We are launching a massive campaign counter-offensive built to drive IP 28 NO votes through the roof — and ultimately defeat this measure at the ballot box. If you have friends, family, or hunting buddies who have been sitting on the fence, tell them the threat is immediately outside the door. Now is the time for them to join. If you are in a position to upgrade your membership or make a donation, we need that fuel now more than ever. Thank you for your unwavering trust, your passion, and for standing firm with OHA. We owe it to our kids and grandkids to win this fight, and looking at the grit and determination of our members, we have what it takes. Visit https://oregonhunters.org
