Decades of saltwater spray will do a number on any structure. For a small island community in the northeastern U.S., the damage to their bridge, beach access staircase and tunnel had reached a point where it was more than just an eyesore — it was a genuine safety concern for residents, drivers and beachgoers alike.

The municipality reached out to ENECON's exclusive northeastern U.S. distributor for a cost-effective solution, and the scope of work covered every part of the structure.

Damaged and missing concrete was repaired using fiber-reinforced polymer rebar and ENECRETE DuraFill. The stairs were reformed with ENECRETE DuraQuartz and CHEMCLAD GP, with an aggregate broadcast to create a slip-resistant surface that could handle real foot traffic. The steel supports under the bridge were grit blasted, formed with ENECRETE DuraQuartz, then reinforced with a METALCLAD DuraWrap Carbon Fiber system to give the structure the long-term strength it needed.

The result was a fully restored structure that is safer, more durable and built to handle whatever the coastal environment throws at it next. The maintenance team and the island's residents were extremely happy with the outcome — and that is always the best measure of a job well done.

Most protective coatings tap out when conditions get truly brutal. CBX doesn't.

Another application by our Australian distributor who recently wrapped up a 4-year check-in with a client who runs submersible pump volutes in some seriously aggressive abrasion environments. Their previous solution — rubber lining — was developing holes at the 8-month mark. They switched to CBX as a trial. That same pump is still running strong after 4 years of service! The numbers speak for themselves.

A few things that make CBX worth knowing about for anyone dealing with extreme wear conditions:
It's built with Illumina beads, bonds exceptionally well to CermAlloy CP and CL, and requires zero heat for application. That last point alone opens up a lot of doors for applications where heat is a dealbreaker. And because it holds up in almost any high-abrasion environment, it's become a go-to for situations where everything else has already failed.

If you're still patching and replacing on a short cycle, it might be time to look at what's actually possible with the right coating system.
