Joe Femiani was often called an “entrepreneur for humanity” because he dedicated his life to helping those who needed it most, especially vulnerable children. From supporting families in crisis and disaster relief efforts to creating innovative community programs, his life's work was driven by compassion.

His greatest legacy is The Watchful Shepherd, a child abuse prevention program inspired by the tragic loss of a young girl. Believing that no child should face abuse alone, Joe helped develop a life-saving technology that allows at-risk children to instantly connect with emergency responders at the push of a button. Since its launch in 1993, the program has helped protect thousands of children and given families hope, safety, and peace of mind.

Joe's extraordinary service earned him numerous national honors, but his greatest achievement was the countless lives he touched. Though he passed away in 2003, his vision lives on through The Watchful Shepherd and the ongoing commitment of his family to protect children from abuse.
