This is the tail end of a snake that was caught in a dryer exhaust fan. The dryer vent was only about 8 inches off the ground where it exited the exterior of the home. The vent did not have a cover and the snake found its way in. The dryer had been turned on while the snake was crawling through the fan and it caused the dryer to stop. This is a black rat snake. They are not venomous and are great for keeping rodent populations in check. They are good at climbing and very curious. The moral of the story, instal dryer vent covers that have cages.
