I teach my students this message and hope they take it to heart.

Ten words. Two letters each word. Quite possibly the key to mathematical excellence.

Teachers aren't mind readers, and if a student needs help, it is up to them to speak up. 🙋‍♀️

I do understand that some teachers create an environment that embarrass children who make mistakes. 😔

The students who take it upon themselves to ask for help will be the ones who do better in math.

A mistake is nothing. The biggest mistake is to quit.

Math is nothing but solving puzzles, each problem presenting it's own unique challenge. Students must become detectives 🕵 and use the clues they find in the problem to find the answer.

Inquisitiveness is a major trait of "gifted" students. It is my belief that any child can reach that level, if they learn to work through and strengthen their own abilities. Let students be little detectives. Let students find not just the answer, but explore the processes (why & how) needed to find the answer.

Yes, the area of a circle is πr², but WHY is it πr²???

Hello everyone! My name is Israel Flores and I created this page to connect with families that need help with the COOLEST subject in school!

Have you or your child ever said to yourself, "I'm just NOT good at math" or, "I will never understand math!"???

If so, I've got news for you... YOU CAN BE GREAT AT MATH!!! It's my belief that EVERY child has the ability to excel in math (and pass the STAAR), it just takes a some work and creative teaching.

If a child doesn't understand something, it is because they haven't been taught in a way that MAXIMIZES their ability and UNLOCKS their true potential!

Math is like a soup. Often, students miss some key training (like how to mince garlic or how to knead dough) and this hurts them as new recipes are learned.

Having gaps in math (i.e. not being able to solve equations or failing to understand the correct order of operations) will leave the child feeling lost as higher math skills are introduced.

Luckily, their is always time to add the right ingredients to fix their math soup.

Not everyone will wish to pursue a degree in mathematics...

but...

with my help, any child will be able to, if they wish!!!
