Living in the Light July 1, 2026

What is your vision of life? Who or what is your God? For whom do you live? Overarching vision provides direction, undergirds decision-making, and gives meaning to otherwise ordinary or difficult tasks. Jesus’ vision undergirded His intimate relationship with His Father and resulted in unflagging obedience, as He lived in light of the kingdom of God. What difference will your vision of life make in how you live today?

Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, LORD.—Psalm 89:15

Prayer: Lord, I praise You, the Creator, Giver and Sustainer of life, the one who gives light to my eyes. Give me Your vision for the world and for my life so that I may walk in the light of Your presence. Let me perceive You at work around me so that I can partner with You in establishing Your kingdom today. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jesus' Reading List June 29, 2026

What’s on your reading list? In a day and age when copies of Scripture were rare and difficult to come by, Jesus, even as a young man, made a point of knowing the Scripture. His life mission was grounded in God’s Word, what we today call the Old Testament. This knowledge strengthened Him for opposition and prepared Him to resist temptation. How familiar are you with the Bible that Jesus knew, loved and memorized?

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”—Matthew 4:4

Prayer: Lord, give me a love for Scripture, including a longing for and insight into the Bible that Jesus knew. Reveal Your character to me as I read the Old Testament. Give me deeper insight into Jesus as I study the Scripture that He read and studied. Prepare and strengthen me for ministry through Your word, I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Blessings from Heaven June 24, 2026

Who does God use to bless you? God wants to bless us through everyday interactions with people in our communities: work and ministry colleagues, friends and family members, and brothers and sisters in Christ. Jesus modeled mutually-supportive human relationships with disciples and friends who blessed Him by their very presence. How are you being blessed by being in relationship with others? Who are you blessing through your interactions with them?

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.—1 Thessalonians 5:11

Prayer: Lord, thank You for brothers and sisters in Christ who bless me by their faith and mutual encouragement. Thank You for family members and friends with whom I share loving and lasting relationships. Thank You for colleagues and neighbors who make a difference in my life. Help me to be a blessing to them today, I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

When Jesus is Lifted Up June 22, 2026

How do you respond when people ask you what you do? Is your response task-oriented, vision-focused, or people-oriented? God’s vision is to establish His kingdom, accomplishing tasks through servant leaders that involve and influence people. Whatever you do, whatever your role, servant leadership is the way you inject eternal significance into your daily activities and relationships. What do you do?

For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building. By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care.—1 Corinthians 3:9-10

Prayer: Lord, help me to remember that I am Your co-worker, enlisted into Your service, for Your purposes, according to Your plan. Thank You for giving me a role to play in what You are doing in the world. Remind me that what I do and how I do it matters to You and to others. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen

Are You Willing? June 12, 2026

Jesus’ starting point for ministry typically seems to be the needs of people. Consider His compassion in feeding the 4000 and 5000, healing the blind and lame, and answering the questions of ordinary people. Has He not called you, His follower, to do likewise? Who will you minister to at their point of need today?

A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus was indignant. He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.—Mark 1:40-42

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for being willing to meet me in my need just as You met the l***r in his need. Your willingness to heal, to forgive, to cleanse, and to restore reveals the Father’s heart. Give me a willing heart so that I, too, can serve people at their point of need. I ask in Your name, Amen.
