Someone once told me that teenagers speak in code and it's up to parents to figure out what they're trying to communicate.

When they're angry, sassy, rolling their eyes or sighing heavily... it's all a form of communication.

And, when they plop on our beds at 11:00pm ready to tell us about their day, show us a funny video they saw on TikTok or ask us for a backrub - that, too, is a form of communication.

Even though they may not be saying it aloud... they're telling us how they feel, what's in their heart and what they want us to know. We just have to slow down long enough to read between the lines. We have to slow down long enough to listen... I mean really listen, to what they're trying to say. 🧡
