Check out the beautiful parks in Oshtemo Township!

It was still other volunteers who donated physical labor to help clear trails and install the brand new StoryWalk, a joint project between the Kalamazoo Public Library and Oshtemo Township Parks.

Another set of volunteers digitally mapped the natural surfaced trails at Drake and Flesher Field and then installed color-coded wayfinding placards along them. Bi-weekly Trail Work Fridays help keep the natural surface trails accessible to park visitors. Be watching in March for those to start up again.

(Speaking of natural surface trails, we have to give a huge shout-out to K&H Tree Service for their work putting in the wide trails at the Drake Farmstead Prairie, and the continued landscaping improvements they've done at Flesher Field.)

Oshtemo 4-H Youth Program built us some wooden bird houses this year! We installed some this summer and will continue next year. The Kalamazoo director of the Michigan Bluebird Society worked with Audubon Society of Kalamazoo to install five bluebird nest boxes at the Drake Farmstead. We're looking into purple martins, too!
