On this day 66 years ago, Airman First Class Hosea Lee Jones tragically lost his life during a military parachute jump training exercise at Drop Zone Luzon, Camp Mackall, North Carolina. The 28-year-old Combat Controller sustained fatal injuries after landing in a tree during the jump.

A1C Jones's ultimate sacrifice stands as a solemn reminder of the immense courage, dedication, and profound risk accepted by the Airmen who carry the mantle of USAF Combat Control.
