⚠️ We know a lot of people in Central Wisconsin are looking at their roofs, siding, gutters, and vehicles after yesterday’s hail.

🚨 Before you rush into filing a claim, there are a couple of important things to understand.

Over the last few years, many insurance companies have changed how they handle wind and hail damage. Most carriers now have a separate wind and hail deductible, which is often higher than your regular deductible. In many cases, it may be 1% of your dwelling coverage, though every company is different.

Many companies also use a roof schedule based on the age of the roof. This means the older the roof is, the less the policy may pay toward replacement, even when hail damage is confirmed.

✅ So before filing a claim, it’s a good idea to:

- Check your wind and hail deductible.
- Review whether your roof is covered at replacement cost or on a schedule.
- Take photos of any damage.
- Avoid signing contracts until you understand your policy.
- Talk with your agent first if you’re unsure.
