This one could’ve easily turned into a fire.
We got called out for a second opinion on an EV charger… and what we found was way worse.
❌ Non weather rated outlet outside
❌ Not rated for EV charging (continuous load)
❌ Undersized wire on a 60A breaker
❌ No GFI protection
❌ Wire literally hanging on by a thread
❌ Strands cut just to make it “fit”
This isn’t just sloppy… it’s dangerous.
When a breaker is oversized, the wire can overheat without ever tripping. That’s how fires start behind walls.
EV charging needs to be done right. Period. If your EV charger outlet does not have that EV emblem on the face of it you need to get it swapped out immediately.
If you’ve got a setup like this or you’re not 100% sure… it’s worth having it looked at.
