Macintosh River Rats Baseball

Isn't it special? With grit and determination, our 13u boys are adjusting nicely to the big diamond this fall with a 4-0 record. But it takes patience, grace, and continuous perseverance to achieve at this next level."It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it great."
Keep it up Rats!
Fall ball isn’t just “more baseball.”
It’s chilly mornings that start in hoodies and end in t-shirts.
It’s coffee in one hand, a glove in the other.
It’s watching your kid step onto the field, breathing in that crisp air with the same fire they had in July.
It’s where mistakes turn into lessons.
Where new positions are tried.
Where the pressure of the regular season fades just enough for them to play freer, looser, braver.
It’s a chance to fix that swing.
To work on that pitch.
To prove all the summer sweat was worth it.
Fall ball is smaller crowds and quieter stands.
Parents huddled under blankets on cold bleachers.
The crack of a bat cutting through a foggy morning.
It’s the kind of baseball that takes you back to why they started in the first place.
Because right now, it’s not about standings.
It’s not about records.
It’s about growth.
It’s about grit.
It’s about love for the game.
And it’s about ending the year the same way you want to start the next
on a field, under an open sky, with dirt on their pants and a smile on their face. ⚾🍂

📣🎇💣Rats D**g Report 💣🎇📣 Yeah, we're technically not in "Rats" season currently, but our fan base needs to know. Will Locapo hit his first bomb during the MA Cal Ripken State Tournament in a win over Uxbridge! Kid's been grinding all year, and we're proud to share that he had hit this milestone. Congrats to Will and his entire Groton-Dunstable team for a great state tournament run!

When the 12u Rats represent two neighboring school districts and four towns, OF COURSE they should meet in the Cal Ripken District 5 Championship!
Congrats to Johnny, Nate, Owen, Marcus and Chase of North Middlesex, and Declan, Will, Liam, AJ, Quinn and Anthony of Groton-Dunstable. They all will be playing for the state title in Marlboro July 10-13. Best of luck boys!

Capitol Falls to Rats, but Outlaws Claim the Throne
Semifinals: Rats 17 Cape Riptide 7
The entire Rats team had their fingerprints on this win. All 11 players in the lineup recorded hits, and 9 players collected RBI. LHP Nate Healy struck out the side in the 1st inning to set the tone. The starter picked up the Win, going 3IP (0ER), along with a couple “PFPs” to stifle a 3rd inning rally. The Rats drew first blood on RBI singles from SS Liam Sackos and OF A.J Peterson ’31, followed by an onslaught of HRs from OF Anthony Luttati ’31, Declan Monat and Johnny Marques. Monat would later add a solo shot (4th of the tournament), bringing his season total to 8. 2B/C Chase Boyce was at the forefront of 2 double plays. 5-4-3 twin-killing (Marques-Boyce-Noferi) to end the 2nd and an athletic catch and tag (Healy-Boyce) on a runner attempting to tag up and score on a fly ball to center. Rats delivered the knockout blow with a 5-run fifth, featuring an RBI double from Owen Rager and a single by 2B Will Locapo to walk it off and send the mischief to the title game.
Finals: Rats 5 Greene County Outlaws 12+ 10
An electric starting pitcher (10Ks), one outlawed bat (5 kills) and two missed (b-day) cut-offs proved too much for the Rats to overcome. After spotting the Outlaws an early 7-0 lead the Rats battled back to cut the deficit to 7-5. Two, 5th inning HRs put the game out of reach. Juan Soto and Aaron Judge were scheduled to pinch hit for the Outlaws if the game went into extra innings.
With the strong tournament showing, the Rats improve to a 13-7-1 overall record and are poised for a deep post-season run in the PG League playoffs.

Macintosh River Rats 12u took Albany, NY by storm, sweep pool play at the Battle by the Capital tournament
Game 1: Rats 10 Nisky Warriors 5
The Rats came from behind twice in this one to overtake the Warriors. After 2 quick outs in the 4th, Rats broke through with a single from CF Nate Healy ‘31, 2-run HR by 1B Declan Monat ’31 and an RBI single from 3B Johnny Marques ’31 to take the 3-2 lead. After falling behind again, Rats rallied for 7 runs in the 5th on the backs of some aggressive baserunning and a perfectly executed safety squeeze from OF Owen Rager ’31. RHP Liam Sackos ’30 allowed just 2ER over 4.1IP. SS Marcus Frade ’31 was solid defensively, including a heads up play to complete the 8 to 6 double play that closed out the game. Healy, Marques and C Chase Boyce ’31 each collected 2 hits in the game
Game 2: Rats 3 Westfield Wizards 1
The Rats won a pitcher’s dual to complete the Saturday sweep and take a commanding edge in their pool. RHP Johnny Marques recorded the first 12 outs (0 ER) and RHP Will Locapo ’31 tossed 2 perfect innings in relief to pick up the Win. After a leadoff single to open the game, C Declan Monat threw a seed to 2nd base to eliminate the baserunner. Wizards didn’t attempt to steal a base the rest of the game. The offensive play of the game took place in the 5th when Will Locapo scored from 2nd base on a ground out to the second baseman. He never broke stride coming around third and caught the Wizards off-guard to score what proved to be the game’s winning run.
Game 3: Rats 18 Columbia Clippers 15
Rats win the high scoring affair to remain unbeaten and advance out of pool play. RHP Quinn Noferi ’31 went 3 strong innings, surrendering just 2 runs to earn the Win. RHP Owen Rager recorded the final 6 outs, striking out a pair to close the door. Chase Boyce led the team with 4 hits and the Sultan of Swat, Declan Monat belted his 2nd HR in as many days in the winning effort.
