I’m stitching this morning in Marie Webster’s studio at The Quilters Hall of Fame in Marion, Indiana. My exhibit was conceived after a Studio Art Quilt Associates exhibit challenged us to have a dialogue with Marie Webster who wrote the first book on quilting and designed patters she drafted inspired by her garden. I wanted to continue that conversation with her here in her house. In her studio they installed the piece, Dragonflies, that was in the exhibit at the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields several years ago. There is a photo of Marie’s first quilt in the case and what is believed to be her little red dress. If you’re in the area the exhibit is through May 3 and you may find me stitching in the galleries.
