The way we treat others has a ripple effect on their behavior. If you are kind and patient with someone, they are more likely to be a little more kind and patient with you. Modeling this behavior will help them extend the same to others, and you'll find, by example, you are making the world a better place, one interaction at a time.

The same applies to gratitude and appreciation. I try to make a point of showing my gratitude to the people in my life by telling them why I appreciate them or writing a thank-you note each day. I find that it not only makes me happy and helps me focus on the positive aspects of my life, but it also extends this happiness to others and encourages them to be more grateful too.
