WebP is a modern image format from Google that provides superior compression for images on the web and allows us to convert all MLS listing images into smaller file sizes (3x on average compared to PNG!!!) and richer quality images.

As of 2022, WebP has a 97% market share among web browsers. This includes Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, and Opera. Though so many tools support WebP, JPG is still the most popular image format on the web. According to the HTTP Archive, WebP only accounted for about 7% of all the images on websites in 2021. However, that number has been growing, and your IDX site is now on the cutting edge.

What do you need to do to take advantage? Nothing. Best of all, this happens automatically. Our internal data infrastructure pulls and maintains 10,000,000+ images for active listings. It creates a new WebP version of each image. Our system detects if the browser of a visitor to your site supports WebP. When it does, we serve the WebP format automatically.

Why does this matter? This reduces the image download size and loading times, making your pages and website even faster to load. This improves your SEO performance and client experience!!!
