The Turtle Hospital

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Kevin 💚

Kevin was rescued from a canal in the Upper Keys by Mariela and Bob Care with Florida Fish & Wildlife and arrived at The Turtle Hospital in extremely critical condition. Despite the dedicated efforts of his rescuers and our veterinary team, his little body was simply too weak to recover.

While not every rescue has the ending we hope for, every turtle deserves the chance to be helped. We’re grateful Kevin was surrounded by compassion and care in his final moments.

This is never the call we want to receive 💔🐢

This sea turtle was reported to us after being struck by a boat. Sadly, it had already passed away before our team arrived.

As we head into a busy holiday weekend, we’re asking everyone on the water to be extra vigilant. Nesting and mating season is still underway, so turtles are spending more time at the surface and are especially vulnerable to vessel strikes.

If you’re boating this weekend:
🕶️ Wear polarized sunglasses
👀 Designate a wildlife spotter
🚤 Slow down and obey idle speed and no-wake zones
🐢 Stay alert for surfacing turtles
