It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Kevin ๐Ÿ’š

Kevin was rescued from a canal in the Upper Keys by Mariela and Bob Care with Florida Fish & Wildlife and arrived at The Turtle Hospital in extremely critical condition. Despite the dedicated efforts of his rescuers and our veterinary team, his little body was simply too weak to recover.

While not every rescue has the ending we hope for, every turtle deserves the chance to be helped. Weโ€™re grateful Kevin was surrounded by compassion and care in his final moments.

Swim free, sweet Kevin ๐Ÿข๐Ÿ’š

Hope got a little freshening up! ๐Ÿขโœจ

Last week, Hope had her barnacles removed. She didnโ€™t have too many to begin with, but a few stubborn hitchhikers had to go!

Now sheโ€™s all cleaned up, feeling a little lighter, and continuing to make great progress in her recovery ๐Ÿ’™

This is never the call we want to receive ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿข

This sea turtle was reported to us after being struck by a boat. Sadly, it had already passed away before our team arrived.

As we head into a busy holiday weekend, weโ€™re asking everyone on the water to be extra vigilant. Nesting and mating season is still underway, so turtles are spending more time at the surface and are especially vulnerable to vessel strikes.

If youโ€™re boating this weekend:
๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ Wear polarized sunglasses
๐Ÿ‘€ Designate a wildlife spotter
๐Ÿšค Slow down and obey idle speed and no-wake zones
๐Ÿข Stay alert for surfacing turtles

A few extra moments of awareness can save a life. Thank you for helping protect Floridaโ€™s sea turtles ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒŠ
