Over the decades, the quirky Big Pine Key establishment developed a colorful reputation, including a brief stint as a brothel in the late 1930s and a thriving local hangout by the 1950s. Perhaps its most controversial chapter came during the 1970s and 1980s, when large amounts of illegal drug money flowed through the Keys. According to local lore, patrons had so much cash that they began stapling dollar bills to the pub’s walls, creating a tradition that still exists today. Covered in thousands of signed bills, the walls of No Name Pub remain a unique reminder of one of the most notorious eras in Florida Keys history.
