The SI joint is designed to move — a small but necessary motion that happens every time you take a step. That movement gets transmitted all the way up through the lumbar spine, and when it is not happening correctly, the stress redistributes in ways that can cause real damage over time.

Most people walking around are not moving through the hips and pelvis the way they should be. Walking pattern is one of the first things evaluated in the clinic for exactly this reason — because if the mechanics are off all day long, the joints and discs pay the price.
