Camille Update from her parents Tyler and Callie:
Wilms tumor, Stage 2 with favorable histology (no anaplasia). The cancer had begun to extend into the blood vessels, but not the lymph nodes. She tested positive for chromosomal 1q gain and LOH at 1p, 11p15, and 11p13, which indicates a higher risk of recurrence if not fully treated. What was initially thought to be a relapse is now being considered a new tumor. The good news: no radiation is needed, and no ovarian tissue surgery is required. Her chemotherapy plan is a mix of standard relapse regimen + part of a new study regimen, as her case is very rare. Echocardiogram, port placement surgery and her first chemo treatment are scheduled for Tuesday. Everything will be outpatient, which is a huge relief. One of the medications will require a 5-hour infusion each day for 5 consecutive days during certain weeks. Otherwise, treatment will usually be just one day per week. The full course will last about 30 weeks. She will have scans halfway through treatment and again at the end, followed by very close monitoring for the rest of her life... We’re feeling positive about this plan and are ready to move forward and get her through this ~ 🎗🩷🎗
