Juneteenth, officially known as Juneteenth National Independence Day, commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas, learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

For United Methodists, Juneteenth matters because it tells the truth about delayed freedom, the sin of slavery, and the ongoing call to liberation, justice, repair, and beloved community.

It's the 70th anniversary of women's ordination in The United Methodist Church!

The celebrations continue with the recognition of the 70th anniversary of the ordination of women in The United Methodist Church! We give thanks for each and every one of our clergy women, past, present, and future. All our clergy women attending Annual Conference gathered for a photo to honor this meaningful milestone.

R.A.C.E. Toward Jesus invites us into reflection, repentance, healing, and reconciliation this Juneteenth season. May we encounter Jesus in new and transformative ways.

God of every ending and beginning, as this school year comes to a close, we thank you, for the teachers who guided with patience,
for the students who grew, and for the moments of joy, challenge, and wonder.
We pray for every child finishing a grade, every teen wrapping up exams, and every family shifting into a new season. Give rest where there’s weariness, peace where there’s worry, and excitement for what lies ahead.
Let this summer be a time of renewal, of laughter, stillness, adventure, and connection. And may we never forget that You are with us in every season. Amen.
