Every Tuesday morning, all The Well volunteers arrive early for a time of prayer and devotion. This morning I would like to recognize one of our volunteers who beautifully wrote and shared a devotional on the joy of giving, and he allowed me to post his reflection.

There is something powerful about giving…

Not because it makes us look good…
Not because it earns recognition…
But because giving reflects the heart of God…

Every time hands prepare food…
Every time a volunteer carries a box…
Every time someone offers a smile, a prayer, or a simple moment of compassion…
hope is being extended to someone who may desperately need it…

That is what makes The Well more than a food pantry…

It is a place where people are reminded they are seen…
Reminded they matter…
Reminded they are not forgotten…
Sometimes the greatest blessing is not only the food itself…
but the kindness attached to it…

Reflection

The truth is…
the need will always exist…

There will always be hurting people…
Families struggling…
Individuals carrying burdens nobody else sees…

And while we may not be able to fix every problem…
we can still serve…
We can still love…
We can still place compassion into action…

God has always used willing hands…
Hands that give…
Hands that serve…
Hands that comfort…
Hands that help carry the weight for someone else, even if only for a moment…

Serving at The Well is not simply volunteering…
It is a ministry…

It is becoming the hands and feet of Christ to people who may feel unseen by the world…

And maybe what seems small to us…
a meal…
a conversation…
a few hours of our time…
may become the very thing God uses to restore hope in someone’s life…

Galatians 6:9 reminds us:

“ And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (ESV)

Sometimes service is exhausting…
Sometimes the needs feel endless…
But compassion matters…
Faithfulness matters…
And every act of kindness planted in love carries eternal value…

Spiritual Reflection

Jesus never ignored people in need…

He stopped for the broken…
He fed the hungry…
He touched the forgotten…
He showed compassion when others walked away…

As believers, we are called to do the same…

Not because we have endless resources…
but because God can use whatever we place in His hands…

A willing heart…
A servant spirit…
A compassionate moment...

Even the smallest offering given in love can become something meaningful in the Kingdom of God…

May we never lose the joy of giving…
May we never become too busy to serve…
And may The Well continue to be a place where hope is poured into lives one act of compassion at a time…

Well Volunteer

After a long day of serving the needs of our community, 50 incredible volunteers came together to help serve 347 families today at The Well.

I would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Jason Lee for taking time out of his busy schedule to volunteer with us today. It was wonderful to see him not only helping load groceries into our guests’ vehicles, but also taking the time to greet and connect with the families we serve. Thank you, Pastor Jason, for your continued support and for the resources you provide that help make The Well an efficient and successful food pantry.

We would also like to thank Kamara Cooper from Ivy Kids of Manvel for stopping by and donating several boxes and packages of diapers just in time for Diaper Day, which was held this afternoon. Your generosity is greatly appreciated, Kamara!

Mayor Dan Davis also visited The Well today and presented two gift cards from Texas Southern University. The university was recently working on a project in Manvel and wanted to bless The Well with this thoughtful donation. Thank you, Texas Southern University, for your kindness and generosity.

If you feel led to volunteer with us or would like to partner with our organization, please contact us at (281) 914-3004.

May you have a wonderful and blessed week.
