This pair of sisters needed a plan when at 9 weeks old, the breeder couldn't sell or give away. A plan was made in the community to watch out for them and give lots of snuggles until a rescue could be found. We are told their mother is a pureblooded Doberman.

These girls will be naturals, long tails and floppy ears.

UPDATE on Chandler Silly Goose

Goose has a history of ear infections and went to see Dr. Doucet this month at Alvin-Friendswood Veterinary Clinic for ear meds. He has developed soft tissue sores from shaking his head and pawing his ears, so he was also ordered to wear a cone.

Goose greeted the staff and demanded petting, ball throwing and butt scratches. They examined his ears, swapped for testing and trim his nails without any sedation or behavioral (muzzle) aids.

He no longer barks at strangers which is helpful due to his big size. He likes car rides, jumps in and out on command 'load up.' He now works through most anxiety by chewing toys or carrying a stuffed animal around. Goose still pulls HARD and at 92 lbs will drag someone down - his bio reflects the need for an experienced BIG dog owner and someone who can physically manage his size.

Goose came to CCR in 2024 as an XL Doberman at-risk (City of Plano Shelter) due to needing an experienced rescue for behavior. Goose had been purchased from a breeder, then confined to an apartment with a young family who did not socialize him. He barked and lunged at all new people out of his own fear, which was scary at his size. He spent 6 months stabilizing his weight, working on social skills and being temperament tested before deemed safe for foster care. We determined he was severely under socialized and would benefit from time with our experienced big dog foster homes.

His current foster, Ms Ginger has been working on his dog skills, basic manners, leash training and confidence. He is part of playgroups daily, knows basic commands and but leash training is slow. He is just silly and easily distracted. This is what committed looks like; 'long term' dogs may need medical care, behavioral modification and training or time to just heal-trust-learn-grow.

Li Li May aka Evelyn sends regular photo updates of her adventures with her family in Pennsylvania. Her life started as a stray puppy roaming in Liberty County, now her future looks BRIGHT.

UPDATE on Echo

We have been to several Vet's for repeat appointments to check, re-check bloodwork (his organs are good) and X-rays (has heartworms, slightly enlarged heart, no blockages, no injures). Next is a referral to another specialist for an ultrasound. Medications and dietary plans the first two weeks have not helped Echo.

His abdomen stays extended with fluid.

He is affectionate, active, alert, -favorite thing is to carry a tennis ball. Echo acts young! He has some muscle tone but is not gaining weight. He has been a picky eater, can only eat small servings but acts starved. His body might not be able to digest or absorb the nutrients he needs. He is housetrained and has regular bowels.

Now our Vet said - just let him eat, anything he can/will/wants.

The change to comfort care, (until we have answers) - includes anything we can hide supplements in. Echo loves hamburger helper meals, yogurt with chicken, mac and cheese, cinnamon rolls and anything his foster is eating.

Fundraisers will continue to help support his medical bills.
