Hello friends! We’ve returned to port in Longyearbyen and begin the trek home today. Svalbard is magical, mystical, mysterious and simply, stunningly beautiful. We saw the most amazing animals, healthy and happy, I this place that seems so inhospitable. We ventured up to 82 degrees north latitude and were perhaps, for a moment, the northernmost humans on the planet. This is where sea ice has gone now and where bears, seals and birds follow. The changes here are astonishing. Warming climate has laid a heavy hand on this land. We will share more when we get home!

Svalbard Archipelago 2022
Because this isolated polar archipelago is warming 7 times faster
than nearly anywhere in the world, it gives us the opportunity to understand how changing climate will impact ecosystems in other parts of the Arctic and around the planet. Our team has been on the ground visually documenting the changes in real time with some incredible results. The team at The Arctic Arts Project looks forward to bringing you a new film later this year with the story of Svalbard, “The canary in the coal mine".
