April 24
Manitou Springs Police officers were asked to check the welfare of someone in the 300 block of Manitou Avenue. When they arrived, they encountered a man with multiple local misdemeanor warrants. He was arrested and transported to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
April 25
Officers responded to a theft in the 100 block of Piñon Lane. An unknown suspect entered a shed and stole a bicycle.
MSPD stopped a vehicle in the 3100 block of West Colorado Avenue. The vehicle was found to be displaying fictitious registration and the driver was issued a summons.
April 26
In the 00 block of Manitou Avenue, officers located a man with a local misdemeanor warrant and arrested him; he was transported to CJC.
Officers attempted to stop a black Audi sedan near Manitou Avenue and U.S. Highway 24. The driver fled, heading west. The Woodland Park Police Department pursued the vehicle and Manitou officers saw the vehicle again, but the vehicle fled again. The driver’s identity is being investigated.
April 27
A hit-and-run accident with vehicle damage occurred in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. The MSPD is investigating.
Officers responded to a report of a cold assault in the 800 block of Manitou Avenue. After interviewing the victim, MSPD located the suspect and charged him with harassment, a misdemeanor.
A domestic violence in progress was reported in the 300 block of Manitou Avenue. Officers investigated on scene and took custody of a woman on charges of harassment.
April 28
MSPD observed a vehicle almost hit another vehicle near Highway 24 and 31st Street, and stopped the vehicle. The driver was cited for reckless driving and being under the influence of alcohol.
Officers responded to a suspicious incident in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue, where several people had reported seeing a trail of blood. At this time, MSPD doesn’t have enough information to determine what happened, but surveillance camera footage is being sought.
MSPD stopped a speeding vehicle in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. Officers found probable cause to arrest a 23-year-old man from Long Beach, Calif., for driving under the influence of drugs.
April 29
Officers attempted to stop a vehicle not displaying license plates near 31st Street and Highway 24. The driver failed to yield and nearly caused the police car to rear-end the other vehicle. MSPD terminated the pursuit.
A non-injury traffic accident occurred in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue. Although the vehicles were only slightly damaged, one driver didn’t have vehicle insurance.
Manitou officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of West Colorado Avenue to assist El Paso County with a possible disturbance. After an investigation, a 63-year-old Colorado Springs man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
A stolen vehicle was located in a motel parking lot in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. The vehicle was towed and officers are attempting to contact the owner.
April 30
While responding to a disturbance in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue, MSPD contacted a woman with an out-of-county misdemeanor warrant. She was taken into custody and booked into CJC. While there, officers found she was attempting to conceal illicit narcotics on her person. She was charged with introduction of contraband and possession.
