Some evenings remind you why New York is unlike anywhere else in the world. The Frick Collection’s annual Garden Party was exactly that kind of night. It offered an incredibly rare chance to enjoy their Fifth Avenue Garden, usually closed to the public, where guests sipped cocktails, listened to live jazz, and tasted delectable seasonal hors d’oeuvres under the evening sky. Wandering the galleries afterward, surrounded by masterworks that have lived in that historic home for decades, it was impossible not to feel the weight and magnitude of the Frick’s history.
