This vintage map from the USGS displays the Manhattan Quadrangle as it appeared in 1955. This stunning map has been cleaned up in Photoshop to remove stains, stamps, and other writing not part of the original design. The map is then rendered on top of modern elevation data to produce realistic shadows.
