Doubt shows up in many different ways.
Sometimes doubt can feel like a fog that washes over you.
When you have an obstructed view, you can slow down or wait and give it time to clear. Clarity reveals itself at its own pace. And accepting that requires trust.
If doubt (and fear) are at one end, and clarity and trust the other, the middle is the road that gets us there. What we see and take in on that part of the journey brings us to the clarity we seek.

Water metaphors seem to be everywhere.
Then, again, water is such a vital source of life and power … makes sense. And it shows up in many forms. The trickling stream, the giant wave, the ebb and flow of the tide. There’s also the restorative bath or shower, a tall drink of water and the single drop that creates ripples.
What water reminds us is that your reflection is often the first thing you see on the surface. But that is not necessarily indicative of what lies beneath. You have to get in, be open, move slowly and see what it shows you. Water is water. But not all water holds the same thing or the same power. We owe it to each other to move past that initial reflection.
Water cannot be contained. And neither should people be. But we try, often. Let people be. Let them flow. Water will always reflect what’s around it, or fill the vessel it’s in. But water likes to move … to find its own way and purpose. Allow people that same freedom.
Water teaches us many lessons. And one of them reminds us that like people, we need to go deeper than the surface reflection to begin to see that there are levels, depths and life that the surface cannot ever know.

Change is a constant, so why do we fear or try to reject it?
Even a good change can get a bad reception, if others aren’t ready for it. Don’t let that stop you. People tend to see things through the lens of how it affects them — not you, so you have to keep your own priorities and goals in mind. In essence, that’s what they’re doing, too.
Change is just that: change. New. Different. Unexpected. Unknown. And often, when you change, people close to you see change (and all the other things associated with it) don’t know what to expect with what’s different. And that can be scary. Your change becomes a change for them, too. And they may not have asked for it, or be ready for it, yet.
Acknowledge that. Leave room for it. And if you can, hold grace for them to catch up to you. Do that for yourself, too.
It can be hard to stay committed to change. Especially if those around you are not receiving it well. Keep doing what’s right for you. And if it’s right for you, it will make you better and support your growth. And that, in turn, will make everything around you better … because you are.
Not every change will be good. Or easy. Let it show you what you need to keep getting better. There was a reason you wanted to change to begin with. Trust it. Trust yourself.
