📬235 days
That’s how long I have waited for my work permit. When I moved here I was told that it would take 2-3 months. 🧐🤷🏻♀️ 235 days is almost 8 months, 8 months! 😲 That’s a lot, isn’t it? Thankfully my work authorization card arrived just in time, before I start my new job next week!
In the meantime I was exploring the city, I worked out my routines and made new friends which is very important while moving to a new country. Also, I can speak German now!💪

🥶Killington, you killed it!
First ski break for us this season! 🏂We drove all the way to Vermont to Killington, called “The Beast of the East". Although the West coast is the most popular amongst skiers, there are plenty of possibilities to ski in the East as well.
It was the coldest weather I’ve ever experienced 🥶 and it was so beautiful with all the snow (and ice)❄️ so there is a little winter spam for you!

🤩are you ready for a hidden gem of NYC food scene?
Recently I found this little, well hidden Ukrainian restaurant 🇺🇦. I found it online and when I was there I was hesitant to go inside as it didn’t look very appealing to me. But oh boy, I’m so glad we went there.
The restaurant is called Streecha. It is in the basement and all you need to do is to open an old green door to teleport yourself to Ukraine. And I mean it. Everything was so authentic about this place. Starting from the design to friendly people who work there and yes... the food. I tried the borscht and the stuffed cabbage and they were absolutely delicious!🤤😋I also tried varenyky (pierogies) but as I’m Polish and my standards towards the pierogies are very high, I wasn’t fan of them. It doesn’t stop me however from praising this place. It’s also fairly priced, which for Manhattan means cheap.
We also tried other Ukrainian restaurant, which became a chain and is very famous among local New Yorkers, it is called Veselka. But don’t fall for it! Save your money and go to Streecha instead. As for me, Veselka is overrated and overpriced!
I can’t wait to go back to Streecha and taste their borscht again! Ohhh I got hungry... 🤤

🍴DeKalb Market Hall
So far that’s one of my favorite food markets in NYC! Located in downtown Brooklyn, it hosts 40 local and regional vendors, who perfectly represent diversity of the borough. I am sure that everyone will find something for themselves, as DeKalb is one of the largest food halls in the country.
There is also the very first venture of the iconic Katz’s Delicatessen, beyond its original Lower East Side location which I was praising recently! 🤤

Definitely check it out while in Brooklyn!
