CRNA Method

Are your environments helping you?
I moved this weekend (Shoutout to for being absolute saints throughout the process. They made my move seamless from start to finish 📦 )
As with any life transition, I got to reflect on how I went from being a broke new grad CRNA with tons of debt to doubling my CRNA income in one year. I’ll skip the hard work involved in making that happen for the purposes of this post, because today I want to talk about leveling up to your surroundings, as that was a huge contributing factor to where I am today.
I've always known that we were a product of our environments, but I feel like I didn't *fully* understand it until recently. Notice that the people you hang around are likely in very similar life positions as you (whether it be relationship status, income, or life philosophies). It's not just that you are the average of the 5 people you spend time with - you become them. I recognized this a few years back and have been a lot more conscious of who and what I invite into my life and surround myself with, even casually.
Some insights:
▫️ Staying away from the complainers and negative nellies, not participating in meaningless conversations and cutting out negativity on social media/news/tv has freed up my energy to build and help others
▫️ Being cautious of friendships that are built on commiseration. 9 times out of 10 they will enjoy your misery more than your happiness.
▫️ Seeking out and surrounding myself with people who are experts in what I wanted to do (Pst. new grads - this is your cue to start in the ICU if you want to go this route)
▫️ Befriending those who have already accomplished my goals - whether relationship, career, or life goals - and observing what they do. If I didn’t know a person like that in real life, I found them online and consumed the information they put out.
▫️Sharing ideas only with people who are supportive of me or willing to provide constructive criticism.
