It’s Not Her by Mary Kubica
✏️: If you’re looking for a fast paced murder enraged story that draws you in from the first page, look no further!
This is the story of a family that goes off for a vacation hoping to ease the stress of a recent job loss but instead it ends tragically. Death and a missing teenager.
The details are what make this story so good – the way they’re perfectly placed to illicit our brains to think a certain “good” character could be guilty or is it someone else? I really loved this story – it kept me on my toes turning the pages trying to figure out “whodunnit” and I was honestly shocked at the ending. From the beginning to the end, it was a great reading experience that took me away from my reality and for that I’m giving it four stars!

Porcupines by Fran Fabriczki
✏️: This story was interesting, not something I’ve read before and therefore, kept my attention all the way through.
This novel is about Sonia, a Hungarian immigrant and her daily antics in raising her daughter Mila by herself. It delves between different time periods that have shaped the way that she thinks, believes, and how Mila came to be. It’s a story of growth, a story of reflection and a story that shares what most parents realize after their kids are screaming at them. That children do not come with a handbook and we’re simply winging everything that we do with a wing and a prayer and hoping we get it right.
I liked this story a lot. Book of the Month has really brought me into contact with authors that I normally would have never heard of nor would I have picked up their books. I’m giving this a solid four stars – great job on keeping me reading and anticipating what was coming next!
