The Derryfield School

Last week, Derryfield's English and College Counseling departments hosted ‘Jumpstart Your College Essay’, a five-day, three-hour-a-day intensive writing workshop designed to help students generate and revise their college application essays.

Students dove deep in the writing process, drafting, workshopping with peers, and meeting one-on-one with instructors, including David Baroody, English teacher at Derryfield. What started as a single section two years ago has grown to four sections this year, a reflection of just how valuable students and families have found the program.

To close out the week, students welcomed Liza Goodman from the Admissions Office at College of the Holy Cross for a real-world perspective on the admissions process and a chance to hear direct feedback from someone who will one day read their applications and essays.

By the end of the week, students walked away with one or two full drafts in hand, ready for the next step in their college journey!

Another fantastic event that we have had the privilege of hosting over the last few years!

Organizations like the Greater Manchester Chamber - NH play a vital role in the continuing growth of our city and surrounding areas, and we love being able to partner with them to bring the Manchester community to our campus!
