With the significant heat wave coming, we want to remind customers that your vehicle’s A/C may not feel as cold as it normally does.

Automotive A/C systems are designed to lower the air temperature, but they still have limits. When outside temperatures are extremely high, especially with a hot interior, blacktop heat, stop-and-go traffic, or high humidity, the system has to work much harder. It may take longer to cool the cabin down, and the air from the vents may not feel as cold as it would on a normal 75–80° day.

A few things that help:

• Park in the shade when possible
• Use a windshield sunshade
• If your vehicle is not equipped with a MAX A/C button use recirculation mode to get the coldest vent temperatures.

Extreme heat will make a good system work harder, but it will also expose a weak system quickly. If your A/C does not seem right, give us a call and we can check it out.
