Islamic Community School - ICS

AsSalaamu Alaikum,

Ramadhan is approaching, and Islamic Community School is preparing to host our annual Iftar & Qur’an Recital, Insha’Allah. This special evening will feature our students reciting surahs they’ve memorized this year, nasheeds, and the joy of breaking fast together as a community. We are also honored to have our dear brother Ebrahim Mohseni, Soheyla’s father, share a short speech with us.

As you know, ICS exists as a service to our community, providing our youth with a safe, meaningful space where they can grow strong roots based in Islamic teachings and mannerisms, build their identity, and truly feel that they belong. This event also serves as a fundraiser, as we are seeking to raise $15,000 to close out the school year. We kindly ask that you spread the word to your family and friends. Every contribution directly supports our small community of little learners and future leaders, Insha’Allah.

RSVP is required, so please be sure to inform any extended family or friends you invite, as this helps us plan appropriately for food.

Students, get ready to dress up as your future selves — doctors, artists, engineers, teachers, entrepreneurs, scientists, or anything you dream to be! The more creative your outfit (the ones made with imagination, not store-bought!), the better 🎨👩🏽‍⚕️🧑🏾‍🚀🧕🧕🏾

Parents are welcome to join as our young learners explore different professions, meet community role models, and imagine how they can use their talents to benefit others for the sake of Allah. 💫

🌿 Career Day isn’t just about jobs — it’s about discovering purpose. Islam teaches us that every act done with sincerity and excellence (ihsan) can be an act of worship. When we do meaningful work that serves others, we are walking the path that draws us closer to Allah ﷻ.

Let’s inspire our children to dream big, serve with heart, and make their future careers a form of sadaqah jariyah (ongoing good). 💖

🌿 Exciting News at ICS! 🌿

Assalamu Alaikum,

It is with great joy that we welcome Sr. Latifa Barnett as the new Instructional Coach at Islamic Community School (ICS)! We are truly blessed to have her join us, bringing decades of experience, deep faith, and a passion for empowering families through holistic education.

Sr. Latifa has over 30 years of experience in education, including 20 years as a homeschooling mother of six. She holds degrees in Mathematics (B.A.) and Education (M.A.), and has worked in public schools, private schools, and at the college level. She also serves as co-founder of LnS Education Solutions and has worked with Al Hadi Learning Organization, further reflecting her commitment to nurturing spiritually grounded, inquiry-based learning environments for Muslim children and families.

✨ At ICS, Sr. Latifa brings instructional expertise, spiritual insight, and practical tools to support teachers, students, and families. She believes every child is an amanah from Allah and that strong partnerships between educators and families are key to raising God-conscious, curious, and compassionate lifelong learners.

On a personal note, I have admired Sr. Latifa since she was my 7th grade math teacher. Over the years, she has been both a close friend and mentor, guiding me through my own homeschooling journey.

With her expertise and leadership, we are confident that, Insha’Allah, our students will flourish. 🌸
