In a dangerous precedent for a formal Oval Office address—traditionally reserved for non-partisan national emergencies or major milestones— Donald Trump is trying to boost Republican prospects and preemptively undermine the integrity of the 2026 midterm elections.

Tonight’s prime time address saw an embarrassing display of unproven, false and nefarious allegations refuted by Trump’s own intelligence agencies in his first term. He is releasing unclassified (and false) documented conspiracies, without releasing classified intelligence that disproves it.
