Filmbuilding

Sonder started as an idea — and now it’s real. Grateful to be building this new workshop with these two and what it’s about to become.
Filmbuilding: Sonder is our newest workshop in collaboration with Lincoln-Sudbury High School. Building on the successes of Lincoln-Sudbury’s 2024 Filmbuilding: Belonging project, Sonder is a student-initiated and student-created film project designed to challenge stereotypes, build understanding, and genuine friendships by pairing one Boston resident and one Lincoln/Sudbury resident together for two 24-hour home exchanges. Stay tuned on the outcome of these short films!
Curious about our last collaboration? Check out the Belong-In documentary created by on our youtube channel youtube.com/

Filmbuilding attended the SXSW EDU a few weeks ago in Austin, Texas, and the experience was nothing short of AMAZING!! We got to learn about some truly exciting initiatives happening in education, and also get to connect with tons of people around co-creative visual storytelling for change! What a huge step forward this was for Filmbuilding!!!

🌟Join us for a Global Filmbuilding Screening Event!🎬
Join us on February 15th for a virtual FilmBuilding Screening Event, featuring youth-created short films and filmmaker conversations from this international collaboration in our Bridges of Hope Workshop. Over the past few weeks, Filmbuilding participants from six countries - U.S.A., Finland, Estonia, Ukraine, Sweden, and Germany - have been co-creating films together surrounding the theme “Bridges of Hope.” Throughout this process, participants have been celebrating their differences across distances and creating films with that purpose in mind. This is something you don’t want to miss!
This is a worldwide VIRTUAL event, and ALL are invited to join! Tell your friends!

Learn what prompted the building of Filmbuilding in Part III of Filmbuilding’s backstory!
“Rather than teaching about film or how to film, we were teaching students THROUGH film. Exploring the filmmaking process as a way to discover one’s place in the world.”
Keep an eye out next week for the next chapter of the Filmbuilding Origins series, or check out the previous reel from last week on how Tom’s international move to Tokyo inspired the beginnings of Filmbuilding.
