As such, the name "April" comes from the Latin word "Aperire" or "To Open", making the month one of the few in the year named more so after an action rather than a particular deity.

The birthstone widely attributed to this month is the Diamond, however, a close alternative to the highly expensive gemstone is Rock Crystal, commonly known as "Clear Quartz". Despite being two completely different minerals, both Diamond and Quartz Crystal share identical correspondences to Strength, Purity, and Devotion.
