Elections Update 🚨
Expanding access to voting locations and reducing wait times has been a top priority for Election Commissioner Laura Rainwater and the County Commission.
In 2022, there were 15 early voting sites and 82 Election Day polling sites.
Today, there will be 20 early voting sites and 110 Election Day polling sites for the 2026 Primary and General Elections.
We need 150-200 more election workers to staff these polling sites.

Eeshaan is a student at Robinson Middle School. I first met him while judging the Wichita Public Schools and Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce Civics Bee back in April.
His essay was on Homelessness.
He stopped by the office today to ask some follow up questions on the community approach and to chat through ideas.
To have an 8th grader thinking about these BIG issues is inspiring! He’s competing in the state level Civics Bee competition next week and I have hunch he’s going to do incredibly well. 💡
This lightning show to our north is quite impressive!!

I have deep respect for Richard LaMunyon.
Long time Wichita Police Chief and then City Administrator for Maize, he has helped shape our community in a lot of ways — but it’s quite possible that his legacy is most defined by his support and advocacy for Special Olympics.
In 1981, Chief LaMunyon started the Law Enforcement Torch Run in Wichita. Now, 45 years later, it’s expanded worldwide and has raised over $1.2 BILLION for Special Olympics athletes.
I was honored to catch up with my friend yesterday and to watch him light the torch for yet another run across our community. He has been such an encouragement to me, personally, and I’m grateful for all he’s done to elevate awareness for Special Olympics and to demonstrate kindness in our community.
BRAVO Chief! You’re one of a kind, sir!
