What an honor it has been this session to serve as Chairman of Technology in the House and along side Chairman of Technology in the Senate, Senator Bart Williams.

Senator Williams worked my bill (HB1126 Walker Montgomery’s Online Protection Act) as if it were his bill teaching me so much about having a heart for what is right over who gets credit. Truly, all the credit is due to Senator Williams for never giving up!

This bill requires social media platforms to make commercially reasonable efforts to prevent or mitigate our children’s exposure to harmful content on these platforms.

The truth is that even the most diligent of parents can use help protecting their children online, and it’s time that these platforms start prioritizing our children’s safety.

The times of these companies operating in the wild-wild west of targeting our children with no oversight are over!
