Drop It For Luck

Hey everybody, I’m Colin - bassist for Drop It for Luck 🎵
My introduction to music began in the early 2000s learning traditional sheet music on the alto saxophone. Around the same time I started my self taught journey on electric guitar heavily inspired by Mike Einziger’s writing on the album Morning View by Incubus.
About a decade later I made the transition to bass guitar after a close friend reached out in need of bass players for their church’s youth group and have been hooked ever since.
After performing live with various worship teams over the years I have learned to appreciate the instrument in new ways while continuing to inject my guitar playing roots into the bass lines I write for Drop It For Luck.
Echoing Jake, ‘A Little Sun’ is also my favorite song to perform live. The isolated drum and bass in the verses where Jake and I get to lock in and groove together never gets old!
Tune in tomorrow to meet the next personality behind Drop It For Luck.

What’s up everyone, I’m Jake Ballard - drummer for Drop It For Luck 🥁
I am a self-taught multi-instrumentalist from age 10. I have played bass, guitar, and sang for a variety of groups before joining Drop It For Luck, but my passion lies with percussion.
At age 14 I picked up the drums after discovering the powerful John Bonham of Led Zeppelin. I simply had to emulate Bonham’s explosive sound! He and many other classic hard rock drummers like the spontaneous Keith Moon, and Mitch Mitchell have all been staple inspirations to my playing.
I strive to grow through experimental musical collaboration and continue to develop a style of playing that gets the audience moving!
Currently, my favorite Drop It For Luck song to play live is A Little Sun. It allows me to let the groove breathe and keeps the energy high for the crowd.
